This is a sample of a letter to be sent to parents at the beginning of the season. Add or subtract items to be included but most of the items shown are pretty standard.
Coach Name

Team Players and Parents,

Welcome to our team, and if you played last season, welcome back!  I am looking forward to getting started and working with all of you.

Enclosed for your information are:

1. My coaching philosophy
2.League Rules. Please read these to help understand what is going on.
3.A Code of Conduct to be signed by parents and players and returned to me.
4.Coach/Parent Commitments to be completed by both players and parents
5.A team roster
6. A complete season schedule.

We will have one practice and one game per week. Our practice will be on day at  time at   field. Our games will be on  day at   time   at field.  The first game will be on date, and the last game on   date   (unless we have one or more rain outs.)

I encourage everyone to make it a priority to arrive at practice early, allowing enough time to get warmed up and mentally ready to practice.  Each player should have a glove, ball shoes, hat and water and be wearing appropriate clothes.

I would like parents to take an active role in the team. Help out at practice and at games. Often during practice I will set up several “stations”, with one skill being practiced at each station. If you can come to practice, you can be very helpful in supervising a station or assisting in other ways. Also, it is nice if the players can have a small, healthy, snack after games or practices. If someone would like to organize this I would be grateful.

The whole purpose of this program is for the kids to have fun, learn about being part of a team, develop some ball skills and, again, have fun. I will do all I can to work with these goals and try to develop each of our players to be the best he or she can be.

My phone number is  nnnnnn   is  and my e-mail address is    aaaaaaaaaaaa. Please let me know if your child will miss a practice or a game. Also, if you have and use e-mail, please send me an e-mail with your e-mail address. There will be times when I communicate using e-mail if that would work.
