OUTFIELD DUCK
The game is similar to Infield Duck except that the player must catch a fly ball “thrown” by a pitching machine. The player must then make a good throw to a catcher. Players line up at the first station and must catch the fly ball before it hits the ground. After completing their turn, each player moves to station two, then stations three and four, then back to station one. If the ball hits the ground, or if the throw causes the catcher to move her foot off the base, the player receives a letter (in sequence D, U, C, K.). When a player has received all four letters of DUCK she is eliminated. The last player not eliminated is the winner.

Variations:

(1)The player starts with her back to the pitching machine and the next girl in line must tell her when to go. If the next girl doesn’t tell her, and the ball hits the ground, she still gets a letter. This promotes the idea that communication is necessary to avoid errors.
(2)The stations can be progressively moved away from the landing area to make the game more challenging.
(3)The player is allowed to start on her own and the ball is fed (into the pitching machine) when she takes her second step. This promotes catching the ball in an all out run.
